An Ice Climbers Guide to Southern New England and Eastern New York
An Ice Climber's Guide to Southern New England and Eastern New York covers 200 ice climbing venues in Connecticut, southern Maine, Massachusetts, southern New Hampshire, eastern New York, Rhode Island, and southern Vermont.
The guide is the result of ten years of research and includes more than 100 areas that have never before appeared in print.
An extensive history section is included, as well as stories from climbers who climbed in these areas.
Within its 496 pages, the book includes a forward by Henry Barber, color coding to identify states quickly, and indexes listing ice and mixed routes by grade.
What are the exact boundaries of the guidebook?
The guide includes all of Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island (yes, there is ice in RI). In Vermont, the northern boundary is Interstate 89. The northern boundary for New Hampshire is roughly the Kancamagus Highway and for Maine, generally Route 302. Also included some areas in eastern New York that haven’t been described in guidebooks previously. All told, there are 200 areas in seven states.
